2016 has arrived! The first Monday of 2016 is here and I have a good recipe for you! In Greece we called “vasilopita” or to the other countries New Year’s Eve Cake.

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla powder
  • 2oo grams white chocolate (chopped)
  • 400 grams white chocolate

All materials must be at room temperature. Put butter and flour to the cake tin. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. With a hand mixer, beat the butter and sugar for a few minutes. Then add the eggs and vanilla. After, pour the solids. Add the almonds and the chopped white chocolate and mix with a spatula. Pour the mixture to the cake tin and bake for 50-55 ‘. Allow to cool completely.

Melt in a saucepan over low heat the chocolates. Remove when the chocolate is completely melted. Then pour the sauce to the cake.
